IDOL GU is Gauhati University affiliated institute, founded in May 1998. IDOL Gauhati university offers postgraduate, undergraduate, and certificate in correspondence mode. GUIDOL has created its first E-learning portal in the northeast. There are 93 study centers and 40 examination centers.
There are 25 courses or programs offered by the GUIDOL which are approved by the academic council of Gauhati university. M.Ed is the latest course which was introduced in 2012-2013. IDOL GU conducts the campus recruitment procedure for students of our university who are studying the final year or semester of Post-Graduation in MBA/M.Com/M.Sc (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics) /MA - Economics. The placement chances are available to final-year students, and it is done based on the students' interviews 80% of the time and their academic records 20% of the time. A pool campus placement programme was also started, where 35 students participated in the interview process and 10 were chosen by different companies. IDOL GU Admission
IDOL GU offers two types of admission process: on-the-spot admission and online admission
On-the-spot admission: Candidates can visit any study center or office of IDOL Gauhati with all the necessary documents. Students have to fill up the application form that can be obtained by paying 50 rs from the respective study centers.
Documents needed for spot admission are:
- Two copies of recent passport-size photos
- GU registration certificate (for the graduates of GU)
- HSLC admit card/birth certificate/pass certificate/mark sheets/certificate of qualifying examinations
Admission in all the courses will be done based on merit in the qualifying exam. The entrance exam will be conducted only for MSc IT. The eligibility criteria for the 3 years undergraduate courses are that the student should pass 10+2. The eligibility criteria for the postgraduate courses are graduation from a recognized university.

IDOL GU Placement
The placement opportunities are open to final year students where the placement is done 80% based on the interview of the students and 20% based on the academic record. The students have to go through a strict placement process. IDOL Gauhati also gives the opportunity to the students to do internships off campus as the distance courses are less burdensome. Although there is no placement cell, GUIDOL creates abundant placement opportunities.

Pool campus placement was also initiated where a total of 35 students appeared in the interview and 10 students were selected by various companies.

IDOL GU Campus Life and Events
GUIDOL gives access to a highly functioning library that has 6500 volumes of textbooks, reference books, dissertations, CDs, and DVDs. The college has launched radio luit FM 90.8 which is the first campus radio in the northeast. IT courses such as MCA/BCA uses free and open-source software (FOSS) technology which creates a virtual digital learning environment. All the theory and practical education of the students are done in such a technical environment under the guidance of the teachers.
