Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research, previously known as Central Mining Research Institute and Central Fuel Research Institute is a constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR).
It is based in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. CSIR- CIMFR was established in 2007 to integrate core competencies of two (CMRI & CFRI) premier coal institutes of the country.
The Institute runs Integrated (M.Tech + Ph.D.) and Ph.D. courses. Applications for admission will be filled online.

Admission to Ph.D. programs offered by the Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research is conducted twice a year.
The minimum educational qualification for applications is Masters in a related field.
The minimum eligibility for admission in an integrated program is B.E./B.Tech in relevant field with minimum 70% aggregate or equivalent.
Candidates must have a valid GATE/ NET/ CSIR JRF scores while applying for Ph.D. admission.
Selection will be based on Aptitude test/ Personal interview by the Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research (AcSIR).
