Centre for Development Studies was established in 1971. This research cum teaching institute is located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Centre for Development Studies is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. The centre provides MA, Integrated M.Phil - Ph.D. and Ph.D. degree in Applied Economics.
- Application forms for all courses are submitted through offline mode.
- Along with Indian candidates MA program is offered to South Asian countries’ candidates as well through SAARC Scholarship Scheme.
- For admission to MA program bachelor’s degree with 50% marks is needed for Indian candidates.
- SAARC countries’ candidates should have done bachelor’s program equivalent to an undergraduate programme of an Indian university.
- For Integrated M.Phil/ Ph.D. program eligibility is master’s degree with 55% marks.
- Eligibility for Ph.D. program is M.Phil degree. However meritorious candidates having Master’s degree along with 2 years research experience are also allowed.
- Selection to all the courses is based on entrance test. For Ph.D. and integrated M.Phil/ Ph.D. course candidates will have to appear for interview as well.
- Admission to SAARC countries’ candidates for MA program is given on the basis of academic qualification and Skype interview.
