The Public College Samana was established in the year 1969 under the chairmanship of Sh. SL. Kapoor, IAS the then deputy commissioner of Patiala. The university situated in Patiala was declared as a “model college” by the Patiala university in the year 1996.

The university is spread in a radius of more than 35 km with a pollution-free environment. The university offers various undergraduate and post graduates courses in areas such as science, commerce, Arts, and Computer science. The college has also introduced various vocational career based courses which are sponsored by UGC.
