University of Mysore was established on July 27, 1916. Currently, it runs 42 PG departments at the main campus, 2 PG centers in Mandaya and Hassan with 5 PG departments each and 1 satellite center at Chamarajanagar with 3 PG departments. University of Mysore is educating over 85000 students including overseas students.
With the assistance of University Grant Commission, the university has recently introduced its Distance & Correspondence Program under the supervision of Directorate of Distance Education. It offers UG/PG/Integrated/Diploma courses under its Distance & Correspondence Program.
