Only online applications are accepted by the university for the purpose of admission.
It is mandatory to pass in all subjects in the qualifying exam in order to be eligible for CAP.

The basic eligibility criteria for admission to these courses is a pass in HSC / 10+2/ equivalent exam from a recognized board with minimum 40 percentile marks in aggregate.

The institute currently offers MA courses in Marathi/ Hindi/ English/ Psychology/ History/ Political Science/ Sociology/ Economics/ Public Administration, M.Sc. courses in Computer Science/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Biotechnology/ Microbiology, including 4 additional programs, viz. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to the MA and M.Sc. courses is a BA and B.Sc. degree respectively. For admission to the PGDCA and PGDBM courses, graduation in the relevant discipline is a must.

Vivekanand College admits students for PGDCA, PGDBM, BCM and MMS courses through CET conducted by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. For admission to rest of the courses, students are selected on the basis of merit of their last qualifying exam score through CAP (Centralized Admission Process).

The application process in details is as follows:

Candidates must first fill the online application form for CAP available on the University website.
Once the application form has been duly filled and submitted, they must attend the document verification process.
It is important for the candidate to be physically present at the venue in person.
After documents verification, university publishes a provisional merit list, receives grievances, if any, and then publishes a final merit list for allotment purpose.
The merit list also displays the available category-wise seats for CAP Round I & II.
The next step entails candidates to exercise their options, which requires the application to fill the online option form.
In this phase, choice of course and institute has to be selected by the candidate.
Students must then attend CAP counselling following which a Provisional Allotment List is displayed indicating allotted institute and course.
After the Final Merit List has been published, candidates must apply at the institute level by filling the physical copy of the application from collected from the campus.
