A few of my friends graduated from USCIT Delhi and IIIT Kota and here are some tips that they shared which can be helpful. IIIT Kota: Indian Institute of Information Technology Kota (IIIT, Kota ) is located at Ranpur near Kota, Rajasthan. It was established recently from its temporary campus at MNIT Jaipur in. IIIT Kota is a joint venture of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India with Industries in Public-Private Partnership model. The Student-Faculty ratio is 45:1. Since it has been only a few years after the establishment of IIIT it will take time to garner more MoUs. USICT: USICT has MoUs with Cisco, IBM, Intel. USICT is also the Cisco regional academy for northern India. The final year students of USICT are placed with the top IT companies like Adobe, Samsung R&D, Flipkart, Snapdeal, Impetus. It is the 1st choice for every IPU aspirant and is very well established. However, make the proper choice and choose the right one for you.

IIIT is the place to be if CSE is your passion. USICT offers a dual degree program which is B.Tech + M.Tech in a span of six years. Which limits your choice of opting for a masters’ program on your own. Also, the course is not an integrated program that is for five years, so you are not even saving one year. You will have to complete your usual B.Tech in four years and then M.Tech for three years. So, choose what suits you best.

USICT has a good placement record. Some of the major recruiters at the institute are Nagarro, Impetus, Infogain, Infosys, Winsol, etc. And there are some companies that include Cognizant, TechMahindra that invite sit-in pool placements. Other than that, one of the good things about USICT is that almost every student got placed from the CSE and IT departments. Here is a brief highlight of the recent placement statistics at these institutes. IPU–CET is the annual university level entrance test conducted by the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) to induct students to its various undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the affiliated colleges as well as its own schools. As far as marks are concerned GGSIPU does not reveal the marks but only the ranks of the students. Now, as far as ranks are concerned these are the required cutoffs for CSE in recent years. USIT - CSE Dual Degree (GNGNO) 27297-31092 MAIT- BTech CSE  2220-2806 These are the ranks of the last round after which admission stops. Aim for a rank lower than that for getting admission in earlier rounds. Also as these are last-round ranks there is very little chance of the ranks getting any lower than that.

A friend of mine used to be a student of MAIT and he heard that it was possible to migrate from one college to another. He was told that for moving from one college to another, you have to have a ‘no objection certificate from the college you are migrating from and the college you are migrating to. Good grades are also mandatory for moving to and from colleges. In addition to these, you will also have to fill forms after completion of the first year on the main website of the college. Of course, you will have to submit the form to the college you are currently in. Hope this clears some doubts.

MAIT will be the best option among these for a BTech in Computer Science/IT. It offers good learning resources to students. The institute has good infrastructure and library facilities. It has a good placement record as well. According to the recent placement highlights, MAIT Delhi average package is around INR 4.5 LPA. The highest package goes up to INR 40 LPA. TCS, Amazon, Infosys, etc. are among the major recruiters to visit the campus placement. 

Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) ranks 151 among the top engineering colleges in India as per NIRF 2020 ranking. This institute always maintains 100% placement every year.  MAIT is a private engineering college and ranks 17th among the best engineering colleges in India as per Dataquest ranking. It provides 95% placements and maintains an excellent track record of it every year.  MSIT ranks 251 among the engineering colleges and offers above 85% placements every year.  USICT is one of the premier institutes in India and ranks 73 among the engineering colleges in India as per NIRF Ranking. This institute maintains 90% placements every year and provides jobs in top MNCs. BVCOE ranks 251 among the top engineering colleges and aims to provide the best technical education to the students. The placements are nearly 100% in this institute for every year.  Admission Process MUJ: The admission criteria is a minimum of 50% marks along with a valid score in MET. The university has a total of 200 seats for the program. The program fee is INR 3.19 LPA. MAIT: Students must have a minimum of 55% marks along with the CET test. A total of 180 seats are available for the course. The institute charges INR 1.1 LPA for the program. MSIT: Students must have a minimum passing score in 10+2 with JEE Main. The total program fee is INR 1.15 LPA. CSE program has a total of 120 seats. A valid score in IPU CET or JEE Main is mandatory. USICT: At least 55% marks along with CET test. 60 seats are available for the program. The program fee is INR 3.18 LPA BVCOE: Minimum of 60% marks along with IPU CET score.  60 seats are available for the program. The program fee is INR 1.15 LPA Placements:- All the institutes provide more than 80-85% placements every year. The students get placed in top-notch companies. More than 40-50 companies visit the institutes every year. It is upon the students which college they would like to choose among these four.

Both USIT and MAIT offer ECE and CSE as their flagship courses respectively. The deciding factor here is which subject you are more inclined towards. USIT is ranked 73rd for B.tech in 2019. Whereas, MAIT (IPU) is ranked 251 by NIRF. Admission : USIT: It offers a BTech-MTech dual degree in ECE. For admission in USIT, aspirants must clear JEE mains or IPU-CET. IPU-CET ranking should be under 100 and JEE Main under 30000 in order to secure a seat in ECE The yearly course fee is INR 70,000. MAIT: The institute offers a BTech degree in CSE. For admission in (CSE)MAIT, one has to secure a place in the top 500 ranks in the IPU CET exam or a JEE Main rank falling under 27,611. MAIT offers 180 seats for CSE and the annual course fee is 1.15 lakhs. Placement statistics: USIT: Around 150 companies take part in campus recruitment every year. Industry giants including IBM, Adobe, Flipkart, Amazon, Amazon are the top recruiters. ECE branch at USIT has a placement rate of 80%. The average CTC offered for ECE students is 4.75 LPA and the highest CTC offered for ECE students is 12 LPA. MAIT (IPU): 150+ companies participate in the recruitment process every year. Top recruiters include Amazon, Expedia, IBM, TCS, Accolite. 80% of the students get placed at top companies with an average salary of 4.95 LPA. The highest domestic CTC offered was 28 LPA by Amazon in 2019. CSE department holds the record of maximum students being placed every year in MAIT. Both USIT and MAIT offer good ECE and CSE programs. You should choose the course and the college according to your branch of choice.

B.tech. in Civil engineering is a flagship program of DTU. Admission is made on the basis of marks scored by a candidate in Class XII and candidate’s performance in JEE Main/ JEE Advance.The final selection of the program is based on the allocation of seats through Joint Seat Allocation Authority. The four-year program is an amalgamation of courses to help students understand thedesign and construction of various structures like bridges, buildings, roads, tunnels, and dams. B.tech. in CSis a flagship program at bothUSIT and MAIT. Admission is made on the basis of candidate’s performance in JEE Mainas well as candidates need to sit for theIPUCET examination, which is conducted by the institute. The program is a dual degree course of 6 years, made by integrating B.tech and M.tech in CS. Faculty and Infrastructure: The faculty of DTU are really good and have experienceof working in core companies. Most of the faculty have a doctoral degree. The labsof the college are well-structured, and classrooms are also good. The food in the canteen is good and affordable. The medical facilities of the college are also good, and there are good facilities for sports with a gym. CS from IP colleges Placement Statistics: The highest packagesoffered to students was 18lakhs for on campus. Many reputed companies like Wipro, Amazon, Flipkart, TCS, Accenture, etc., visit the campus for placements. The highest salarywas reported to have increased byfive percentin recent years. Faculty and Infrastructure: The faculty of IP college are experienced,well-educated, very helpful, and supportive. The infrastructure was not greatwith small classrooms.The hostels are old but well maintained. The mess serves the basic food and the canteen is pocket friendly.

Both the colleges are very well reputed colleges and are very good at their respective fields. MAIT is ranked 251 for BTech by NIRF 2020. Whereas, USICT is accredited by NAAC with an ‘A’ grade. CSE at MAIT- This course places emphasis on all the important aspects of computers such as computer networks, mobile communication, algorithm design, operating system, advanced database systems, the theory of computation, computer graphics, etc. the department also takes the initiative to improve the soft skills, analytical capability, and verbal communication of the students so that they can face their competition in all fields with confidence. Admission: To apply for this course students should pass class 12 i.e 10+2 CBSE pattern or equivalent with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in physics, chemistry, and mathematics. The admission is done through JEE. The institute also conducts CET for selection. In 2019 the closing cutoff for CSE was 42615 (JEE). There are a total of 240 seats for CSE and BTech CSE costs around 1.10 lakhs. Placements: Some of the Top companies that come for recruitment are Microsoft, Amazon, Wipro, Goldman Sachs, Infosys, Accenture, TCS, etc. The average placements package begins at 3.5 LPA IT at USICT- The IT department has been established to design and implement courses with twin objectives of generating effective professionals and to keep up the pace with the R&D activities in the field of fast emerging and changing information, communication technology. The schools main objective is to inculcate essential skills as demanded by the global software industry through interactive learning processes. The department has highly qualified and experienced faculty who excel in their respective fields. The department also places a huge emphasis on research. Admission: The eligibility criteria for IT the candidate must have passed in 10+2 with at least 60% marks. The examination score accepted for admission is CET. Placements: Some of the tech giants that visit the campus for placements are TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Samsung, Amazon, Genpact, etc. The average starting package is 6-7 LPA. Between MAIT CSE and IT at USICT the latter has a slight edge in terms of placements.
