Yashwantrao Chavan College of Science was established in 1972 affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The college offers degrees in a variety of courses including physics and microbiology, geology, statistics as well as in chemistry and pollution, and also in botany, zoology, and mathematics as well as electronics for the graduation level. The p.g course, M. Sc. Micro        biology offered in this college has been its prime crown for the past 32 years. M. Phil courses are also offered in this college in departments of physics, botany and zoology and PhD in microbiology. To achieve academic excellence, the institute has various programs such as scholar batch and remedial teaching for students and coaching for MHT-CET.  Eventually, the meritorious students have consistently bagged top places in board as well as university merit lists.
