LIBA Chennai will invite applications for Ph.D. admissions in July. Interested candidates can apply online by visiting the official website of the institute.

Ph.D. is a doctoral research degree. It stands for Doctor of Philosophy. Ph.D. is offered to 868 universities in India and LIBA is one of those. Generally, a Ph.D. takes 3 years to complete but it can take up to 5 years for completion.

Ph.D. admissions are based on UGC/CSIR, CAT/XAT, or GATE scores.

LIBA Ph.D. Course Highlights

Application forms are available at the website of the University of Madras.
The form is to be downloaded and has to be filled up and submitted at the Registrar, the University of Madras along with an INR 5,000 in Demand draft.
The Ph.D. program is offered in disciplines such as marketing, finance, economics, systems, human resource,s, etc.
As per the University Guidelines, the LIBA Ph.D. program is conducted on a non-stipend basis.

LIBA Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must have the following qualifications to satisfy the eligibility criteria:

A Master’s Degree with at least 60% aggregate in the same degree.
Candidates with First Class Post Graduate degrees in Management are eligible for enrolment in the Ph.D. program.

LIBA Ph.D. Admission criteria

The Entrance Exams that a candidate needs to sit for are CAT and XAT.
CAT 2023 will be held on November 26, 2023, and XAT will be held on January 7, 2024.
Admissions in the Ph.D. program take place on the basis of the performance in Qualifying Exam, Written Test, and Personal Interview.

The following steps need to be followed for the application of this course:

Create an account proving the required details like username, password, mobile number, e-mail, etc
The next step is to log in to the account and fill in the details like name, LIBA id, CAT/XAT id, photo in the specified format, and then click on submit.
Make sure the details entered are proper so crosscheck once, after entering the details.
Pay the application fee.
Download the application form and mail it to admissions@liba.edu
The applications are evaluated on the basis of the qualifying admissions, Entrance Test, and performance in PI or Group discussion.

Which is best for an MBA, IIT Madras or LIBA?

DoMS IIT Madras is the best option for MBA. The management faculty of the institute are highly experienced. Faculty-student ratio is 1:7. Other than faculties there are also TAs to help you with any problems. Due to the small batch size, every student gets the required attention from faculties.

IIT Madras MBA placements have been pretty good over the years. During the 2022 placement drive, a total of 61 students received placement offers. The average CTC was INR 16.66 LPA. For the top 10% of students, the average CTC was INR 21.62 LPA. While the highest CTC offered was INR 25.30 LPA. IBM, Zycus, Amazon, etc. were the major recruiters that visited the placement drive.

One of my cousins graduated from Loyola. His experience at Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) is quite good. First of all, I will have to answer based on my current interactions with the faculty and some of the students.

My friend has been fairly active concerning the alumni meetings and has met most of the professors and quite a few students.
There is one marked difference between the time my friend studied there and now, that is the significant improvement in the facilities.
There is a proper hostel, the entire campus is wi-fi enabled and the auditorium and other facilities are pretty much as good as it gets.
The classes are like any other college.
There is a mix of full-time and guest faculty; they also do not follow any particular schedule when it comes to guest speakers.
Try not to compare it to an IIM. Though the standards are definitely above average and better.
There is still a vibe of a laid-back environment here when comparing them to a B school like XLRI.

Apart from software companies picking up people for their consulting teams - Cognizant, etc. The industry presence in Chennai is not the same as in Mumbai. Overall, it could be one of the good options among other average-performing colleges.

Which one should I choose for PGDM between GLIM, GIM, FORE, LIBA, NIBM, IFMR and IIFM, Bhopal? And why? I already have calls from GLIM, GIM, FORE and accepting calls from others also.

GLIM, GIM, FORE, and LIBA offer general MBAs. So, you can your preferred specialization during your second year. This will give you a lot of freedom in terms of choosing your industry and job profile. All of these are good options. FORE has a great industry interface. Located in Delhi/NCR, it also enjoys a locational advantage.

Your preference order for these four B-School should be - FORE=GIM>GLIM>LIBA.

NIBM is a sectoral B-School, so choose it only if you are interested in joining the banking sector. Though IIFM isn’t a sectoral B-School, it is only known for its finance specialization. It is also rated below FORE, GIM, GLIM, and LIBA.

Which will be better, Liba, Great Lakes, TAPMI, or Nirma University?

TAPMI is the best among these institutes. If you are among the top 100 students, you can get good placement packages. TAPMI placement report for last year reveals that the top 100 students received an average CTC of around INR 14.6 LPA. The job profiles and exposure offered at the institute are comparable to top management institutes in the country.

You can keep Grate Lakes as your second preference. Both campuses of Grate Lakes offers decent placement opportunities to students. During the 2022 placement, the average CTC stood around INR 11 LPA for the institute.

LIBA and NIRMA University aren’t in the same league as TAPMI and Grate Lakes.
