Here’s presenting some of the honest facts by one of my friends, a student of IBS Pune. In the batch year 2015-17, the class strength was about 250 and that of the junior classes was 450. The institute tries hard to get their students placed in the placements. But it all depends on the individual, their performance in their placement interviews.

IBS does not guarantee any placement. They just provide assistance.

  • IBS Pune offers MBA/PGDM in specialization such as HR, Marketing, Operations and Finance.
  • Most of the placement jobs are of Marketing and Sales.
  • It also offers International placements but they are limited. Only 3-4 companies from UAE and Africa visit the campus for placements.
  • Some of the international companies that visit the campus are Link Middle East(Dubai), Khimji Ramdas (Oman), Satguru Travels (Africa), etc.

If you're considering an MBA program, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Gurgaon are three of the most attractive options based on their placement prospects. Only the Hyderabad, Jaipur, and Dehradun campuses offer an MBA program, while other campuses offer PGPM. If you want a dual degree, you can pursue a PGPM from the campuses offering the program, combined with a distance learning MBA.

The cost of your education is another important factor to consider. The Mumbai and Gurgaon campuses will cost you approximately INR 9 lakhs for PGPM, while the Hyderabad campus charges approximately INR 16 lakhs for an MBA.

In terms of placement statistics, IBS Hyderabad had a 99% placement percentage in 2022 with an average package of INR 8.71 LPA. On the other hand, IBS Mumbai had an average package of INR 7.14 LPA with the highest international and domestic packages of INR 53.45 LPA and INR 15 LPA, respectively. IBS Gurgaon had an average salary of INR 6.81 LPA with the highest international salary of INR 22.18 LPA and the highest domestic salary of INR 11 LPA. The average salary for the top 10% and top 25% was INR 10.06 LPA and INR 8.76 LPA, respectively.

Before making your final decision, it is important to carefully weigh all of these factors. While Hyderabad offers excellent opportunities for development and growth, including a strong club culture, Mumbai and Gurgaon may be better options for you if you are closer to your hometown or primarily concerned about the return on investment.

Symbiosis offers a PGDBA degree and ICFAI offers an MBA degree after two years of correspondence course.

The fee structure of both the institutes is the same so you should opt for ICFAI as the degree of MBA is more valuable than PGDBA. When it comes to job opportunities, the people with MBA degrees are given priority by the MNC’s. So, from the job point of view, pursuing MBA from ICFAI is more beneficial.

ICFAI gives placement to the one opting for distance learning so you need not worry about the placements in ICFAI. Also, it is unique as it provides certificates after every semester.

  • 1st Semester- Business Basics Certificate
  • 2nd Semester- Diploma Certificate
  • 3rd Semester- Post Graduation Certificate
  • 4th Semester- MBA degree

So, between Symbiosis and ICFAI, ICFAI is definitely the better choice.

Both the colleges that you have targeted i.eIBS Hyderabad and IBS and M Pune offer specialization and experience in different leagues. So comparing them is not justifiable for you. You need to compare each of them with your own profile and career prospects rather than comparing them together. The kind of students both these colleges target is extreme opposites. So you need to conduct a 3-step analysis before you choose one

  1. Conduct thorough research on the pros and cons of both the B Schools
  2. Analyze your own expectations, profile, and career inclinations and match them with the required pros and cons you have listed down
  3. Choose the college that matches your requirements and you are most satisfied with

Usually, ISB&M prefers candidates with work experience and a fresher usually goes for IBS Hyderabad. This is because IBS Hyderabad offers limited opportunities to experienced professionals and is perfect for the nurturing of a fresher. The students undergo a personality development process throughout the 2 years which help them from developing from freshers to corporate-ready people.

Your decision of selecting an institution for higher education should not be based solely on the reputation of the institution. Your personal dedication and hard work are essential factors in your academic success. It is not the institution that matters, but your own determination and effort that will determine the quality of education you receive. Furthermore, it is important to note that individuals have pursued successful careers even without attending traditional brick-and-mortar institutions, by taking advantage of open universities and other alternatives.

So, don't limit yourself by thinking that one institution is the best and another is the worst. Instead, focus on gaining knowledge and making a well-informed decision based on your personal circumstances and goals.

Among the campuses of IBS, Hyderabad is considered the best, followed by Mumbai and Pune. It is assumed that the syllabus and course content are similar across the three campuses. Hyderabad is considered to be the best in terms of facilities and resources, while Mumbai is also a strong option, with good professors, case studies, presentations, and a well-equipped campus.

While IBS Hyderabad has a strong placement record, most of the offered positions are in sales. There are also opportunities in advertising, retailing, and other fields, but they are less prevalent. The pay packages offered by the college are decent. After gaining some experience through campus placements, you can explore job opportunities outside the college.

It is important to note that none of the IBS campuses are AICTE approved, but they are affiliated with ICFAI University in Dehradun. As an alternative, you can opt for a distance MBA program by paying an additional fee.

You should go for better alternatives if you have the options. The other campuses of IBS, i.e. Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Gurgaon are definitely better than the Pune campus. Hyderabad is the best among all the campuses of IBS. So, you can wait for the next list of IBS results and see if you can get a better campus.

PGPM:

If you have alternatives, it will be wise not to choose PGPM. Since it is a certificate course and not a degree. But there are provisions for getting a PGPM degree equivalent to MBA from the duly accredited campus. You should do a cross-check for it.

Factors to consider for the PGPM (Post Graduate Programme in Management) program offered by IBS Pune.

Average CTC

So, if you have the opportunity, you should wait for a better campus or consider different colleges that can offer either PGDM or an MBA degree with greater ROI, infrastructure, and better placement.

IBS, Pune is a highly regarded Business School that covers fundamentally every field of study a student of management has arguably thought about. Here is a brief highlight of the institute.

  • Case-study based Pedagogy: It follows a case-study methodology for teaching. This is quite fascinating, considering you get to learn based on cases that have actually taken place.
  • Self-study: On the other hand, IBS Pune is not for those who are not self-motivated. The institute does not impose too much pressure academically so it is up to you to take the initiative to study, get your work done in time, and clear your doubts. Most students lack the self-motivation to stay focused and lose interest in studies by the end of the 1st year.
  • Faculty: According to student reviews, the faculty at the institute has expertise in subjects like marketing, human resources, entrepreneurship, and other subjects.
  • Industry Tie-ups: The college also has collaboration with many reputed companies to ensure good placements.
  • Location: Being situated in Pune, it has a locational advantage. With Mumbai being so close, students get a lot of exposure.

Table below will provide an overview of IBS Pune.

Average CTC

INR 6.1 LPA

Top Recruiters

Google, Amul, Zomato, Wipro, Oracle, Vedanta, TNS, Colgate, DLF, Deloitte, etc.

So, If you are driven, IBS Pune will be a great option for management studies.
