Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology accepts BE/BTech admission as per KEAM Score. KEAM 2023 result has been released on June 19, 2023. The counselling schedule will be out soon.


Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology was established in 2001. RGIT is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.

RGIT offers B.E degree of at UG level and M.tech/MBA degree of 2 years duration at PG level. Research program PhD, is also offered in four disciplines.

  • Candidates have to fill online application forms for all the courses.
  • Minimum eligibility for admission to BE degree is 10+2 in PCM with 45% marks.
  • For admission to M.tech, candidate should have passed BE/B.tech.
  •  Candidates applying for MBA should have done graduation in any discipline.
  • For PhD course minimum eligibility is Master’s degree in the relevant discipline.
  • Selection to Ph.D. course is carried out on the basis of VRAT, VTU Research Aptitude Test.

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology B.E Admission 2023

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology offers BE degree course in six disciplines.

Candidates seeking admission to the first year BE Degree course should have passed the 10+2 with a minimum aggregate of 45% marks in PCM subjects.

Admission to BE degree course is granted on the basis of merit list prepared by taking into account marks in equal proportions in qualifying exam and KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) entrance exam.

Admission to the BE degree course is also given on the basis of JEE Main and COMED-K.

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology M.tech and MBA Admission 2023

RGIT provides M.tech and MBA degree course at PG level. The institute provides M.tech course in four disciplines.

In order to be eligible for M.tech and MBA course a candidate shall have done graduation in the concerned discipline.

Candidate will be admitted in M.tech and MBA course on the basis of performance in PGCET entrance exam conducted by KEA.

For selection to M.tech course preference will be given to GATE qualified candidates.

In absence of GATE qualified candidates, admission will be granted on the basis of merit list of PGCET.

Likewise for MBA course candidates having valid CAT/MAT/CMAT score cards will also be considered for admission.

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology Ph.D. Admission 2023

Doctoral programs in four disciplines are provided at RGITPhD degree course is conducted in affiliation to VTU University.

It is mandatory for applicant to have scored at least 60% marks in the Master’s degree in order to be eligible for admission.

Admission to Ph.D. course is done on the basis of VRAT (VTU Research Aptitude Test) conducted by Visvesvaraya technological University and followed by interview.

Candidates qualified in UGC / UGC-CSIR JRF / SLET / GATE / NET or other National Test with valid score is exempted from VRAT.

Ph.D. Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Master’s degree in relevant discipline with at least 60% marks. Based on merit list prepared on the basis of UGC-NET/GATE/VRAT and interview.

  • Relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying degree examination would be granted to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories.
  • Ph.D. program is offered as full time only.
  • Candidates who are appearing in final year/ semester of qualifying course are also eligible to apply.

RGIT, Bangalore Application process

Candidates of BE, MBA and M.tech course, after qualifying entrance exam have to sit for counseling for admission purpose. Steps to be followed in counseling are:

  • Get registered at nearest Helpline Center.
  • Complete document verification and obtain Verification slip and Secret Key.
  • Using secret Key create User Id and Password.
  • Visit website kea.kar.nic.in and do option entry and choice filling for colleges.
  • Download the allotment letter after declaration of allotment list.
  • Report to the college allotted.

The following Original documents and one set of attested photocopies have to be produced during the verification of documents.

  • One Print out of Online Application Form of CET/ PGCET.
  • Original Copy of the Challan for having paid the fees.
  • Admission Ticket.
  • Mark sheets of SSC and HSC.
  • Study Certificate counter signed by the concerned BEO / DDPI.
  • Recent passport size photographs. (2 in number).

The following documents should be produced, “only if applicable”:

  • Income Certificate obtained from concerned Tahasildar to claim “Supernumerary Quota” seats.
  •  Kannada Medium and Rural Study Certificate for the candidates claiming Kannada Medium reservation benefits.
  •  Caste Certificate / Caste Income Certificate / Income Certificate obtained from the concerned Tahasildar, for the candidates claiming Reservation benefits).
  • Valid Documents  like any of Parent's study certificate / Parent's Hometown certificate / Parent's Domicile certificate / Parent's Employment certificate / Parent's Cumulative Record / Parent's Marks Card, etc., for the candidates claiming eligibility for Government seats based on the domicile / study / employment of the parents.
  • Duly sworn in Affidavit of the candidate who claims eligibility under Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga clauses

For Ph.D.

Candidates seeking admission to PhD degree course have to apply through Visvesvaraya Technological University website.

  • Download application form, from the website vtu.ac.in.
  • Applications along with Demand Draft is drawn in favor of ‘Finance Officer, VTU, Belagavi’ along with necessary enclosures should be sent to: The Registrar, Visvesvaraya Technological University, “Jnana Sangama” Belagavi-590018, Karnataka, by mentioning “Application for Ph.D.  By Research”
  •  Application should reach the University on or before the last date.

RGIT, Bangalore Reservation

  • In BE degree course, 5% of the seats in each college and in each course will be reserved as Supernumerary Quota.
  • All candidates irrespective of reservation are eligible for allotment of seats under Supernumerary quota provided annual income of the family from all the sources is less than Rs.6.00 Lakhs.
  • Reservation of 15% and 5% of the Government seats will be reserved horizontally in favour of rural candidates and Kannada medium candidates respectively.
  • Reservation is also given under Defence, Sports, NCC, Anglo- Indian, Handicapped quota.
  • Govt of India reservation for SC/ ST/ and OBC category is applicable as it is.

RGIT, Bangalore Scholarship

  • Meritorious and economically backward students are provided scholarship to support their education.
  • The scholarship by way of fee concession is given by the institution to all the students allotted by the State Government.
  • Merit cum means scholarships are also considered to the deserving candidates. 
  • Scholarship from State  Government is provided to students admitted under the reservation category for SC / ST / OBC
