Oriental Institute of Science and Technology, started in 1995, is situated with its primary branch in Bhopal and a sub-branch in Jabalpur. Admission to the Institute is carried out as per the rules laid down by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. The Institute offers both four-year undergraduate and three-year diploma programs, concentrating on various disciplines of engineering. At the postgraduate level, it also offers a two-year Master’s degree in Master of Business Administration.

The selection process to the Institute is done on the basis of merit. For engineering courses, admission is offered through admission counseling to those who perform well in centrally conducted entrance examinations, such as the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
Past academic performance along with certain processes as determined by the Institute are used for selection to the MBA course.

Oriental Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) offers a number of courses at the undergraduate level, particularly in the fields of engineering. Those who wish to pursue such courses at this university may apply to do so through the official university website or at the institute itself, alongside appearing in the JEE Main examination.

Admission to the undergraduate B.Tech. programs at OIST is based on the performance of the candidate in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) held annually, and the rank obtained subsequently in this examination.
