Admissions to various courses offered by Mailam Engineering College is done through TNEA, a state-wide counselling process conducted by Anna University on behalf of the Tamil Nadu state. ME/ M. Tech candidates are admitted through TANCA counselling. The detailed application and counselling process for the same is as follows:

• Candidates may apply for TNEA/ TANCA counselling by visiting the Anna University website. Alternatively, they may directly visit the dedicated TNEA or TANCA websites and fill the online registration form.
• The online application/ registration form must be duly filled with all necessary details. Candidates are advised to read the information booklet carefully before filling the online application form.
• The application fee for TNEA/ TANCA can be paid online through various payment modes such as credit/ debit card, internet banking etc. Candidates can also choose to pay the application fee through demand draft drawn in favor of Anna University, Chennai.
• The next step is to take a printout of the complete application form, a copy of which must be sent along with all necessary enclosures to the Director of Admissions, Anna University or to the Principal of the College.

After submission of application forms and payment of application fees by candidates, Anna University publishes a merit list based on 10+2 marks (for TNEA)/ GATE or TANCET marks (for TANCA) for counselling purposes. Candidates must download the counselling call letter from the Anna University website and appear for their respective counselling on the allotted dates. Seats are allotted only after documents verification, hence the candidates are required to carry original copies of all relevant documents to the counselling venue.

Mailam Engineering College offers BE and B.Tech in its undergraduate programme with 5 specializations in B.E and 1 specialization in B.Tech. The basic eligibility criteria for admission is a pass in 10+2 or equivalent exam with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together.

Selection of candidates for the B.E/ B. Tech programs is done on the basis of 10+2 marks through TNEA counselling. Candidates seeking admission to B. Tech courses offered by Mailam Engineering College may apply through TNEA counselling conducted by Anna University.
