It is suggested not to go with either of the colleges mentioned in the question. They offer a mundane college life without any enthusiastic approach towards academics as well as extracurriculars. If you want your college life to be like that then join VNR or GRIET.

Although, many people consider VNR to be better in comparison with GRIET. Microsoft is one of the only good companies that recruit students enrolled in VNR.

My advice for you would be to just live away from your home and get enrolled in a decent University. This way, you can learn a lot about life and what it's like to be out of your comfort zone for a long period.

You can improve your communication skills and learn to communicate with someone who does not speak the same language which you do. You will meet people of different backgrounds and who belong to different cultures and traditions.

Go out and explore all the opportunities that the world has in store for you. No matter what happens, you will be able to learn a lot about life during your college years.

Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) from GRIET is a good option to go for students.

2020 Placements Statistics:

If you look at the overall placement statistics for the year 2020, then the highest package was offered at INR 41.6 lakhs per annum by Microsoft. There were a total of 364 CSE students who have got placed till now.

Average CTC

6 LPA

Placement Average

40-60%

Major Recruiters

TCS, Infosys, IBM, Square Yards, etc.

Top Job Role

Sight Engineer

Thus, overall if you want to follow CSE at GRIET looking at this placement figure, then it is a very good choice.

My brother is an alumnus from KMIT- CSE. You don’t need to have any second thoughts. It is the best.

  • For CSE, there is a whole lot of opportunities available. Top companies visit the college regularly.
  • You will learn to code and build logical thinking as well as achieve great heights. You can learn skills related to your course.
  • You will feel that day by day, they are looking forward to improving your skills and knowledge in your respective course. KMIT is one of the top colleges in TS.
  • The teachers are very well-qualified and knowledgeable, and their teaching quality is amazing. The course curriculum is relevant which makes the students industry-ready.
  • You will get more practical knowledge and the teachers clear all the doubts of the students.

KMIT has the best of placements and at the best package. More than 90% of the students get placed every year. The following table shows the placement statistics for both institutions:

They have a proven track record and are still standing among the top engineering colleges. You would be having a lot of opportunities to showcase your skills on a global level.

You need not give it any second thoughts and just go for KMIT.

I have a few friends at GRIET, so I can give you some information about the institute.

  • Although GRIET is an autonomous college under JNTU, it follows the same syllabus as JNTU. Don’t expect you will learn anything differently at JNTU.
  • Most of the faculty members are good however there are some associate professors and professors who don’t have a thorough knowledge of the subject. They use slides to cover the whole syllabus and give assignments that are of no use.
  • One of my friends was from ECE and according to him, they were assigned 1 laptop per 2 students. This seems like a nice approach but the con with this is you don’t get to choose your partner and have to do lab work individually.
  • The canteen is divided into only girls and boys sections. You are also not allowed to use your phones in the canteen.
  • The socio-cultural life at the institute is also very good with the institute celebrating two major events; Pragnya and Pulse. Apart from these two, the institute also celebrates many smaller events and fests as well. The classes also go on during fests as well, as with the norm in many other colleges.
  • The rules and regulations can be a little strict. Some students adapt easily while others don’t.
  • The placements are good but most of the students are placed in service-based companies. The ratio of getting selected for placements is 1:5 out of 1000.

Sreenidhi also has drawbacks but it is slightly better than GRIET.

Every college is unique and different in its own way. I think it’s a bad idea to make a comparison among colleges. The college in which you study does not matter much if you are passionate about pursuing your interests and goals. Every college has its own way of standing out.

Some of the pros of CVR are:

  • CVR’s infrastructure is well up to the mark. Every department has the required number of labs, including computer labs as well. CVR also boasts of Apple labs.
  • Through technical and cultural fests, hackathons, competitions, contests, and projects students are given multiple opportunities to show their talents and prowess. They can also be effective learning experiences.
  • CVR boasts of amazing placements too. The placement office expects manners, the attitude of learning, and sincerity. The placement training officer of the college will try everything to get you placed.
  • The CVR is an autonomous college and is affiliated with JNTU. The schedule is informed in the beginning of the session. You will appear for two midterms before appearing for the final exams every semester.

Apart from the academics, there are clubs for management, techno-management, art, music etc. So, if you are curious, you can obviously check out some of these fields. The alumni are very helpful so they will always be available for any assistance.

BVRIT (BVRIT Hyderabad College of Engineering for Women) is clearly better than GRIET for CSE students. There is not any significant difference between the two in terms of teaching and pedagogy as the syllabus is more or less the same for every technical college in the Hyderabad region.

The number of students in a typical CSE branch is way much more than that of IT in BVRIT. The faculty are also top-notch and know what they are teaching very well. Yes, of course, there might some very orthodox and traditional teachers who might not inspire students and do not adapt according to the changing market conditions, but these types of professors are lower in number here.

In the end, more than the college, it is your own self-determination that will make you a successful person. A facility with good internet connectivity, self-learning, and competitive coding culture is all you need to succeed at any of the two colleges.

B.Tech in Information Technology from CBIT is any day better than a Computer Science and Engineering degree from GRIET. The reason is that the CBIT IT branch has better placements than that of a GRIET CSE branch.

Placements: (Winning Institute - CBIT)

  • We know that placements are one of the biggest factors in choosing a college and in that regard CBIT is a much better choice even though GRIET is not bad.
  • Many top companies such as Microsoft visit both campuses and offer comparable high annual compensation.
  • However, the companies usually recruit more students in the higher compensation packages at CBIT. So, your chances of securing the dream job are relatively easier at CBIT than at GRIET.

The average placements hover in the INR 6 LPA to INR 12 LPA range at CBIT for IT and CSE branches with the lowest package of close to INR 3.5 LPA. There are also a lot more MNCs coming to the CBIT campus than that of the GRIET campus.

Course Fee:

The only area where GRIET zooms ahead of CBIT is in the case of the program fee. For CBIT it is now INR 2.2 lakhs for the management quota students while it is only between INR 1 lakhs to 1.5 lakhs for GRIET.

You should choose CBIT as it offers better placements.

Among these two, CVR is better for CSE. It has a dedicated faculty base. The institute has an active placement cell. The cell gets ample funding from the college management. It also has a better alumni network.

During CVR College of Engineering placements 2021, students received the highest CTC of INR 30.50 LPA. Oracle GBU, Amazon SDE, Adobe, were the major recruiters in the placement drive.

My brother was a student of GRIET so I can very easily provide you with the overall description of the institution which I hope would help you in making the right decision for your career.

  • The faculty members are experienced and extremely knowledgeable in their respective fields.
  • You would have the option to work on several projects during your college with the help of the faculty members.
  • If you wish to learn a lot about the domain of engineering then your skills would improve significantly at this college.
  • In Hyderabad, the job opportunitiesoffered by the recruiters have the first priority CBIT followed by GRIET. So, you also get the option to explore your interests and hobbies.
  • The alumni network of GRIET is also very good through which you can get referrals in many fields and use the network for help in critical situations.

My brother is an alumnus from this college from the batch of 2009. He has visited the campus a couple of times since then.

The following points are a detailed description of life at GRIET:

  • The college atmosphere is amazing. It has a hilltop view with a great infrastructure. If you want to avoid college and self-transport, you can do that, but you won’t be allowed transport post the college entrance gate.
  • There was a separate canteen as well as a bus for boys and girls when he used to be a student in this college. It’s like a boys’ or girls’ college despite being co-ed.
  • A separate block is dedicated to the pharmacy department along with an average-looking open auditorium.
  • The students of Mechanical and Civil are often heard saying that their faculty was not so good and are average.
  • My brother’s faculty was good at subjective knowledge. However, they were unable to inject it into the minds of the students.
  • GRIET has an all-in-one playground. It allows the students to play cricket, football, volleyball on a single ground and also has a separate court for basketball.
  • A technical fest named PRAGNYA is organized by the college. You are allowed to come up with good technical games and allowed to organize as well as volunteer. The best idea is selected from the bunch of ideas by the IEEE team.
  • They have another cultural fest called PULSE. This fest isn’t so entertaining or interesting. Half of it has some not-so-entertaining ramp walks and a few dance performances.

You cannot use mobile phones on campus. They are even banned in the canteen. Once you enter the campus, it’s impossible to get out of that place before the scheduled time.
