Gharda Institute of Technology, Ratnagiri was established by the Gharda Foundation with Dr. K.H Gharda as the founder of the group. It is located on NH-17 (Mumbai-Goa) highway. It aims at imparting quality education with the help of good infrastructure, modern equipments, advanced laboratories, experienced faculty and workshop by collaborating foreign universities. Its main objective is to promote developments of residents of Rural India by dealing with issues like health, literacy etc.

Extra Curricular Activities:
- GIT Cultural Club was inaugurated on 19th August, 2011 with Mr. Abhijeet Behlekar (senior co-editor Loksatta Newspaper) as chief guest.
- The formation ISTE CHAPTER in the college was approved by Indian Society for Technical Education.
- A body of National Service Scheme (NSS) is working in the college.
- Department of Chemical Engineering under IICHE GIT Chapter had organized in association with IIT Bombay a one day workshop on the CHEMCAD and Chem-o-philia a National Level chemical engineering quiz competition.
- Blood donation camp has arranged in GIT by ELITE student association of IT Department.
- ‘Freedom-run’ Organized by CASTLE student association of civil Department.
