B.Tech Admission (UG)

Four specializations make up the engineering offering at DCE: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, and Computer Science. Alongside the regular intake, 12 Lateral entry seats are reserved across all trades, a provision aimed chiefly at diploma holders.

Direct admission into the 1st year of any regulated course is also open to a fixed number of NRI candidates chosen under the policy framed by the Government of India, over and above those who clear BCECEB. Transfers between the various engineering colleges of Bihar are not permitted under any circumstances.

Eligibility

Qualification at the 12th class level in the science stream is compulsory, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics figuring among the main subjects of that same class. An aggregate of no less than 50% in class 12th is the benchmark for a B.Tech seat, though candidates belonging to the SC/ST background receive a relaxation of 5%.

Age limit: Candidates must fall within the 17 years to 23 years bracket.

Selection Process

The B.Tech merit list rests on JEE Mains, the examination administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA). BCECE forms a second pathway through which aspirants may secure a place.

Diploma holders have a separate route: the Lateral entry examination, held every year between April and July, places qualifying candidates straight into the 2nd year. The seat count for this channel stands at 12.

Note: Fee payable differs by category and subject group. General category candidates taking PCB/PCM/CBA pay INR 1,000, the PCMB combination under the general category costs INR 1,100, and SC/ST applicants are charged INR 550.
