Budge Budge Institute of Technology was established in the year 2009. It is affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) and Kolkata State Council of Technical & Vocational Education & Skill Development (WBSCTVESD). BBIT offers various Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs under the disciplines of Engineering and Management. At UG level, the institute offers a B.Tech. under six specializations. B.Tech. aspirants must possess a 10+2 qualification with a minimum of 45% marks in PCM. 

For the purpose of admission to B.Tech. Program, students must possess a valid scorecard of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) or JEE Main entrance examination. For B.Tech (Lateral), a candidate who have passed Diploma examination in Engineering/Technology with 45% aggregate marks or B.Sc. with at least 45% marks and Mathematics as a subject. Admission to B.Tech (Lateral) is done on the basis of the JELET examination.

At the PG level, the institute offers an M.Tech. under two disciplines and an MBA with dual specializations. To be eligible for M.Tech. program the candidates must possess a B.Tech. in a relevant field along with a valid GATE scorecard. MBA aspirants must have qualified graduation (10+2+3) in any discipline from UGC/PTU/SMU or any other recognized University. Selection to the MBA program will be done on the basis of MAT/CMAT/WBJEMAT scores. The final list of candidates will be announced by college authorities online on the official site of BBIT.

For Polytechnic Diploma, candidates having 2-year ITI certificate or passed 12^th class with science stream are eligible to apply. Candidates who have passed Class 10th and qualify in JEXPO under WBSCTVESD in the current year are also eligible to apply. Students can apply for admission to the Institute via online as well as offline mode. The college offers reservations to the candidates belonging to Kolkata only.

BBIT Kolkata B.Tech. Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must have scored a minimum of 45% aggregate in physics, chemistry, and mathematics in Higher Secondary examination or equivalent.
• Valid rank in Kolkata Joint Entrance Examination or JEE Main entrance examination to be eligible to apply for B.Tech. Courses in BBIT.
• For B.Tech (Lateral), candidates who hold a diploma with at least 45% marks in an appropriate branch of engineering or technology or have a B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University as defined by UGC with at least 45% marks. 

BBIT Kolkata B.Tech. Selection Criteria

Admission to the B.Tech. program will be granted on the basis of JEE Main followed by counseling.

Admissions in B.Tech through lateral entry shall be made strictly on the basis of performance of candidates in the Common Entrance Examination for admission through Lateral Entry Scheme (i.e. JELET) conducted by the Kolkata Joint Entrance Examinations Board.

At the PG level, the institute offers an M.Tech. under two areas of discipline, namely M. Tech. in Power Systems from the Department of Electrical Engineering and M.Tech. in Computer Science & Engineering.

BBIT Kolkata M.Tech. Eligibility Criteria

• BE/B.Tech in CSE/ IT/ECE/ECTE/ET/EE or equivalent
• M.Sc. in Physics/Mathematics/Information Science or
• MCA (with B.Sc. or BCA) 

BBIT Kolkata M.Tech. Selection Criteria

• Candidates with valid GATE/PGET score will be given preference
• Admission Test will be a written examination followed by an interview. The syllabus of the written test will be as per GATE/PGET syllabus

Apart from M.Tech. BBIT also offers an MBA program at the PG level for a duration of two years. The program is offered with Dual Specialization in - Marketing, HR, Finance, Data Analytics, Operations Management and Healthcare.

BBIT Kolkata MBA Eligibility Criteria

• Graduate (10+2+3) in any discipline from UGC recognized University.
• Graduate (10+2+3) in any discipline from PTU/SMU and any other recognized University can also apply.
• Valid MAT/CMAT/WBJEMAT score
• Candidates awaiting their final year degree examination results are also eligible.

BBIT Kolkata MBA Selection Criteria

Admission will be granted on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the Entrance Exam (CMAT/MAT/JEMAT) followed by GD & PI.

Candidates with work experience will get preference

The institute offers a Polytechnic (Diploma) under the department of Engineering and Technology. The diploma is offered in five courses- Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, and Computer Science and Technology.

The sanctioned intake for each of the above-mentioned programs is 60 seats except for ME (180 seats).

BBIT Kolkata Polytechnic (Diploma) Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for BBIT Kolkata Polytechnic programs, candidates must fulfill one of the following requirements:

• Passed 12^th Examination from West Bengal State Council of Technical & Vocational Education & Skill Development (Vocational Education Division)
• Passed 2 years’ ITI at a stretch after Madhyamik or equivalent examination (certificate should mention the duration of ITI course)
• Passed 12^th examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with Mathematics or Biology subject
• Passed 12^th in Science stream with Technical Vocational Subjects from any recognized Boards / Councils / Institutes (Including CSS-VHSE)

Selection Criteria

Admission will be granted on the basis of merit secured by the candidate in JEXPO under WBSCTVESD or marks scored in the qualifying exam.

The college offers tuition fee waiver schemes for meritorious and economically weaker students through various schemes and scholarships funded by state governments.

The Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS) as implemented by the Government of Kolkata, offers admission to a maximum of 5% students per course. To avail, the annual family income must be less than INR 2.5 Lakhs per annum. The selection of candidates will be on the basis of merit and preference will be given to WBJEE candidates.
