VIMS MD/MS program offers a variety of specializations. Each course under the program has different intake capacity and has the duration of three years, including the period of examination. Admissions to these two programs involve the students to clear the common entrance examination prescribed by the institution. Two different entrance tests will be conducted for both the management quota and the government quota. Candidates should also clear the NEET (PG) examination to be considered eligible.
VIMS MDS has about nine specializations with the duration that spans around three years. Admissions to these programs follow the same criteria as the other postgraduate medical courses.

Candidates must meet all the requirements set by the Medical Council of India.
Candidates must have an MBBS degree from an institution recognized by the Medical Council of India. They must complete their internship on or before 30th April.
Must have a Permanent Medical Registration from Medical Council of India/State Medical Councils & Karnataka Medical Council.

Candidates must appear and qualify NEET.
Must clear the Common Entrance Test of Karnataka Examination Authority, Bangalore for the Government Quota.
Should qualify the Common Entrance Test of Association of Minorities Professional Colleges of Karnataka (AMPCK) conducted for management quota.

Candidates must have a BDS degree from an institution recognized by the Dental Council of India.
Must have a permanent registration from the Dental Council Of India.

Selection will be based on merit and in accordance with the provisions of Indian Medical Act, 1956 and Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations, 2000. The candidates selected will be called for a Centralized Counselling, following which they will be admitted into the course.
