The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, vide order has given interim direction as follows:
- ‘The Medical Council of India as well as the States and Universities and other Institutions will be entitled to conduct their respective examinations for admission to Post Graduate Courses, but shall not declare the result of the same, until further order of the Court…’
- It is apart from the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate Courses already conducted by the National Board of Examinations.
- In pursuance of the said directives, written Entrance Test for admission to the P.G. Degree course (MD/MS) under Tripura Medical College will be conducted with the eligible candidates under the supervision of the Permanent Committee headed by the Hon’ble High Court Justice (Retired).
- On the basis of Entrance Test (written exam) result, one common merit list shall be prepared. The rank of the candidates qualifying in the written test will be determined on the basis of the marks obtained in order.
- As regards eligibility criteria, the MCI guideline provides that 50% marks in the Entrance Test for the Post Graduate Degree Courses shall have to be obtained by a candidate.
- However, in respect of the candidates belong to the ST/SC category, the minimum percentage of marks shall be 40%.
- In case of two or more candidates obtaining equal marks in the Entrance Examination, their merit will be determined in order of preference as under:
- Candidates obtaining higher aggregate marks in all the MBBS Professional Examinations.
- According to age, the older one getting preference over the younger one. Selection will be made entirely on the basis of merit in order of the candidates
All candidates must qualify NEET PG and meet one of the following criteria:
- The candidate must be a Permanent Resident of Tripura, passed out from Tripura or any other state.
- Ex-students (passed out MBBS) from Tripura Medical College or Agartala Government Medical College irrespective of Tripura Domiciled or belonging to other States of India/Union Territory.
Note: Provided that if the required number of candidate domiciled in Tripura who has qualified in NEET PG is not available, the vacant seats shall be open for admission from other NEET qualified candidates of other state/union territory.
