AIIMS Bhubaneswar is considered better in the following areas:

  • It has a better student-faculty ratio.
  • The campus has newly established buildings, hostels, gyms, sports grounds, etc.
  • AIIMS Bhubaneswar gives more importance to the research. The college completes the course in time.
  • It also has a brand tag with consistently good results in post-graduation.
  • Bhubaneswar offers a better city life compared to Cuttack.
  • The student crowd is very competitive because top rankers from all the states come here and they have no State reservation.

The reasons for SCB being better are:

  • It is one of the oldest medical colleges in the country with the best faculty and a strong alumni network.
  • It has the largest medical library with a separate library for UG and PG students.
  • More than 3000 patients attend the OPD daily. Many patients are being referred from AIIMS BBSR to SCB also. Hence exposure to patients is huge.
  • The cricket ground is maintained by OCA, Basketball court, badminton court, swimming pool, indoor games facility and gym are very good.
  • New hostels are provided, AC classrooms have been set up too.

These are some of the facts that you should know about both institutions. The decision of choosing the college depends completely on you. Choose the one that suits your requirements.

It is recommended that you choose a national institute such as AIIMS. When deciding between Bhopal and Raipur, it is recommended that Raipur be chosen over Bhopal.

If you live in Odisha, Raipur appears to be a good option (though many would argue that Bhopal is better connected), followed by BBSR.

Bhopal was previously thought to be the top AIIMS after Delhi, but with time, it has been discovered that there isn't much difference between the newer AIIMS; in fact, news of chronic faculty shortages has surfaced at Bhopal. Raipur, on the other hand, has shown consistent progress in almost all arenas—academic and otherwise. The only reason Raipur isn't a top choice is that people perceive Chhattisgarh as a Naxal state that is backward in comparison to others, which is absurd.

If you are offered a seat at AIIMS BBSR, you should take it. If not, you should definitely consider AIIMS Raipur.
