Ques

If someone got selected in JIPMER, AIIMS JODHPUR, BHU or AFMC then which medical college he/she should prefer to join?

● Top Answer By Mainak Sikdar, on 17 Nov 21

Ans
Choosing among the above mentioned colleges is completely an individual’s decision, as this could depend on several factors like location, fees, academic curriculum, etc. Here are some facts about these institutes, which will give you a basic idea of them. AIIMS Jodhpur: It is among the 6 new AIIMS.  The seniors here can guide you through your journey.  The associated hospital has also taken its shape.  But, some candidates prefer AIIMS Bhopal over this as it ranks below.  So, overall it is not a good choice. JIPMER Puducherry: It is the AIIMS of Southern India.  The best students in this region who don’t opt for AIIMS, New Delhi, join this institute.  There is a 33% reservation on PG seats for students who have passed MBBS from this institute. IMS BHU, Varanasi: It is another grand and prestigious medical college in the country.  It is a beautiful, lush, green campus of the Banaras Hindu University.  IMS also has seats reserved in PG courses for those students who have passed MBBS from here. AFMC Pune: It is one of the prestigious medical colleges in the country.  If you wish to serve in the Army, Navy or Air force as a doctor this is your option. Only problem is that there’s a minimum of 7 years liability to serve in the armed forces against an indemnity bond of INR 25 lakh.  But, there’s reservation in PG seats for AMC and Ex-AMC candidates. If you are selected in all these institutes then you should go for either JIPMER or IMS BHU. As AIIMS Jodhpur is a very new establishment and AFMC is for the ones who prefer to join the army. Choose the one that gives you a locational advantage as well.

Ques

In what order would you rank MAMC, KGMU, AFMC. IMS BHU, CMC and Grant Medical College?

● Top Answer By Kishalay Gupta, on 25 Nov 21

Ans
According to the reviews online by the students of these colleges, here’s what the ranking seems to be like: KGMU has mostly been ranked among the top 5 institutions in India. It usually maintained its place in rank 2 or 3. This institution is 125 years old with proper educational experience. AFMC is a very disciplined institution with strict rules and codes of conduct, as it has direct affiliation with Armed forces. Though being well reputed, in academics and exposure it might lag behind. MAMC, Grants Medical College (GMC) and IMS BHU are at a similar level. Some students claim MAMC to be slightly better than AFMC.  GMC is very popular in and around Maharashtra. IMS-BHU is autonomous; it has the reputation of BHU tagged along which is beneficial. CMC is amongst the oldest medical colleges, but their severe lack of proper facilities in this college and political disturbances have tarnished its reputation. Therefore it is suggested you either go for KGMU or MAMC, as they will provide you with the required exposure and opportunities.

Ques

Should I choose AFMC over AIIMS Raipur or any new AIIMS?

● Top Answer By Naomie Mredha on 16 Nov 22

Ans
Every AIIMS is good and not much comparable. But if you compare it to AFMC, there are some things you need to know. Firstly AFMC has a bond of 1 cr rupees if you want to quit after MBBS. But the infrastructure of AFMC Isi is exceptionally good. It just does not provide you the basic medical facilities but trains you in shooting, swimming, working in challenging conditions, daily PT, etc. All this will prepare you for a tough future. The best part of AIIMS on the other hand is no bond is required to be signed. AIIMS focuses on medical facilities only. The classrooms are well-designed. The library, playground, gym, and other facilities add to the overall infrastructure of the college. I will recommend that you go for AIIMS if you are willing to pursue PG right after MBBS. AFMC on the other hand lets you pursue PG only after serving for a fixed period of time. But don’t worry, the internship offers a good amount of money.
