Maharashtra Academy of Engineering Education and Research (MAEER) MIT Institute of Design is situated in Pune, Maharashtra. It was established by the MAEER group in 2006 and is a part of MIT University of Art, Design, and Technology. Also, check MITID Pune Fee structure

MITID Pune offers designing courses at the UG and PG level, viz. B.Des, M.Des and M.Des in Management.
The application form for all the courses is available on the official website of MITID.
Candidates should have passed 10+2 in any stream for pursuing B.Des.
Admissions to all the courses will be done through MITID DAT (Design Aptitude Test) followed by a test series on the campus including a personal interview.
The studio test and personal interview will be conducted on the campus only for students who have cleared MITID DAT.

MITID Pune B.Des. Admission 2023

MIT Institute of Design offers Bachelor of Design course in 4 different specializations. The minimum required eligibility criteria to apply for B.Des. is 10+2 qualification in any stream from any board (HSC, CBSE, ICSE, IB).

Admissions are done on the basis of MITID DAT conducted by the institute followed by studio test and personal interview round. Candidates can submit the duly filled application forms along with all applicable self-attested documents and demand draft on or before the last date.

MIT Institute of Design offers PG Diploma and Diploma course in Innovation and Automotive Clay & Digital Sculpting respectively. The minimum required eligibility criteria to apply for PG Diploma is Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.

The minimum eligibility for Diploma program is 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board.

Admissions to PG Diploma program is done on the basis of Interview Test and Essay Writing.

PG Diploma Admission Process

MIT ID Innovation Program admissions process involves the core program team, the faculty members, industry professionals and programme alumni. The candidates are provided an opportunity to interact with the team and present their credentials, achievements, strengths, motivation and career plan. All the steps are designed methodically by a team of researchers and domain experts ensuring that the process is comprehensive but yet concise.

Note: Apart from this, the institute also offers one month Online Certification Innovation Programs viz, Leading Transformative Innovation Practice, Certificate Course in Social Innovation and Certificate Course in Creative Thinking for Innovation.

MITID Pune Application Process 2022

Admission to the courses offered by MITID is done through Design Aptitude Test (DAT) conducted by the institute jointly with Avantika University, which includes a written test followed by a studio test and personal interview round. The admission process is carried out in two phases :

Phase 1: MITID-DAT (Design Aptitude Test) is conducted at various centres across the country. Based on scores obtained from MITID-DAT, shortlisted candidates will be called for the second phase.

Phase 2: Studio Test and Personal Interview round to be conducted at the MITID campus in Pune. The list of shortlisted candidates for the Second Phase will be announced on the MITID website.

No separate call letters will be sent to the shortlisted candidates. All the candidates intimated for the second phase of the admission process are required to attend the studio tests and interview.

MITID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) will be held in various cities across the country namely Nagpur, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Patna, Lucknow, Goa, Indore, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Bhopal, Chennai, Pune, and Delhi.

Candidates can only apply online directly through the official MITID website by following the below-given steps:

Visit the official website of MITID Pune and search for the ‘Admission’ section.
Click on the Registration link for Design Aptitude Test (DAT).
Candidates will be redirected to the DAT website where they will be asked to provide the requisite details.
Subsequently, a User ID and Password for your account will be generated.
Next, the candidates can proceed to fill the online application form for the desired design course.
Upon providing all the required details, candidates can upload the required documents accept the declaration and submit the online application form
In the next step, candidates will be required to submit the application fee online through online/ offline methods..
The required fee is INR 3360 for Indian applicants and INR 5040 for NRI, PIO, OCI & Foreign National candidates.
Finally, the candidate must take a printout of the submitted form for future reference.
The hard copy of the duly filled form should be submitted at the institute’s address through speed post.
The post should include all applicable self-attested documents and Demand Draft in favour of "MIT ADT University-MIT Institute of Design" drawn on Pune branch as applicable for Indian and Foreign nationals, all educational documents, ID proof and the application form.

Note: Upon scrutiny, verification and acceptance of the application form, the admit cards will be generated and sent to candidates via registered email ID. Candidates can also download the Admit Card by login to his/ her profile on the DAT portal

MITID Pune Scholarship Details 2023

The institute offers Scholarships to new entrants.
The MIT Institute of Design grants full or partial scholarships to 5% of the total students each year.
The eligibility of the scholarships depends on the performance of the student and his/her financial needs.
The interview panel decides whether one is eligible for the scholarship.
The scholarship application form should be availed by the applicant from the Institute office after getting admission to the Institute.
The duly filled scholarship form should be submitted with attached necessary documents showing the income statements of the family members /guardians.

Is the product design course at PES University comparable to other top private design colleges such as Srishti or MITID? How is the placement scenario?

PES, Srishti University, and MITID are colleges offering the recently introduced product design course. Some of the major recruiting companies visiting the institute for the course include JCB, HCL, Microsoft, Onio, Infosys, and a lot more. In the recent World Design Rankings(selected 19 students), India stood at a decent 16th rank and 3 students were from MITID. PES and Srishti claim to have more than 90% placement every year.

Admission:

For admission into the BDes course at PES University students need to apply for the PESSAT DAT entrance exam. Eligibility is 10+2 with 60% marks in any stream. The total seat intake is 120 seats.
Students willing to take admission in Srishti University must appear for the Srishti Entrance and Aptitude Test. Eligibility is 10+2 with a minimum of 60% marks followed by SEAT scores, and personal interview. The total intake is 300(200 at Bangalore and 100 at Pune).
For admission into MITID students need to appear for the MITID DAT entrance exam followed by the Studio Test and PI. The eligibility is 10+2 from any stream. The total seat intake is 200.

Facilities:

MITID provides facilities that include hostels, a digital library, photography studio, AV room, sports complex, and many more.
Srishti University provides facilities that include a digital library, medical center, accommodation, and canteen.
PES is spread across 25 acres providing world-class facilities to students.

Course fees of the colleges are a bit higher, but they also offer various scholarships, so students do not face any difficulties during their course of study.

MITID: The highest package offered was 22 LPA. Major recruiters were Accenture, Godrej, Google.
Srishti University: No placement process is followed but the university conducts events and exhibitions, where companies visit the college. Depending on the work done by the students, companies offer them jobs or conduct personal interviews.
PES: More than 50 companies visited the campus. 851 students were selected from the various branches. The highest package was offered by Robert Boschh that is INR 41 LPA.

PES University is comparable to MITID, and Srishti University in terms of placement, academics, and facilities. All the three colleges are a good option which is evident from its national rankings, It depends on the student to choose the colleges according to their preferences.

How is B.Des at MIT ID different from B.Des at MIT WPU?

MIT ID is a different University than MIT WPU. This difference is reflected in the different course structures of their B.Des program. This course structure is available on the website of each University.

Is there any provision for an internship in the industry through the School of Design in MIT-WPU?

Internship is part of the curriculum for the students of B.Des. Product Design, UX and Visual Communication Design. Students will be trained in portfolio preparation and presentation that is crucial to attracting internships in India and overseas. Students could also be working on in-house faculty driven projects as part of their internships.
