Admission to the courses offered by MITID is done through Design Aptitude Test (DAT) conducted by the institute jointly with Avantika University, which includes a written test followed by a studio test and personal interview round. The admission process is carried out in two phases :
Phase 1: MITID-DAT (Design Aptitude Test) is conducted at various centres across the country. Based on scores obtained from MITID-DAT, shortlisted candidates will be called for the second phase.
Phase 2: Studio Test and Personal Interview round to be conducted at the MITID campus in Pune. The list of shortlisted candidates for the Second Phase will be announced on the MITID website.
No separate call letters will be sent to the shortlisted candidates. All the candidates intimated for the second phase of the admission process are required to attend the studio tests and interview.
MITID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) will be held in various cities across the country namely Nagpur, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Patna, Lucknow, Goa, Indore, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Bhopal, Chennai, Pune, and Delhi.

Candidates can only apply online directly through the official MITID website by following the below-given steps:
- Visit the official website of MITID Pune and search for the ‘Admission’ section.
- Click on the Registration link for Design Aptitude Test (DAT).
- Candidates will be redirected to the DAT website where they will be asked to provide the requisite details.
- Subsequently, a User ID and Password for your account will be generated.
- Next, the candidates can proceed to fill the online application form for the desired design course.
- Upon providing all the required details, candidates can upload the required documents accept the declaration and submit the online application form
- In the next step, candidates will be required to submit the application fee online through online/ offline methods..
- The required fee is INR 3360 for Indian applicants and INR 5040 for NRI, PIO, OCI & Foreign National candidates.
- Finally, the candidate must take a printout of the submitted form for future reference.
- The hard copy of the duly filled form should be submitted at the institute’s address through speed post.
- The post should include all applicable self-attested documents and Demand Draft in favour of "MIT ADT University-MIT Institute of Design" drawn on Pune branch as applicable for Indian and Foreign nationals, all educational documents, ID proof and the application form.
Note: Upon scrutiny, verification and acceptance of the application form, the admit cards will be generated and sent to candidates via registered email ID. Candidates can also download the Admit Card by login to his/ her profile on the DAT portal
