Candidates must have successfully completed any of the following:

1. The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education / State Board New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi. OR
2. General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri-Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level/ International Baccalaureate (IB). OR
3. Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system. OR
4. A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects. OR
5. 3 or 4-years diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.

NIFT Kolkata campus is currently offering UG level bachelor’s degree courses in the field of Fashion technology & Design. Under that, they offer specializations in Fashion design, Accessory design, Textile design, Knitwear design, Fashion communication & Leather design. B.FTech. is offered with the specialization in Apparel production.

Key points for admission

• In B.Des. there are a total of 120 seats, 30 seats for each specialization.
• The capacity of B.FTech. is just 30 seats.
• Candidates seeking admission in this institute, who have not yet completed their last semester/final year/12th, have to show the proof of clearing all the exams/semesters.

NIFT Kolkata UG Eligibility Criteria

Educational qualification for Bachelor of Fashion Technology (Apparel Production) (B.FTech) Programme and B.Des. should be any of the following: 

• The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

or

• 3 or 4-years diploma in any branch of Engineering recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education

or

• A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

or

• Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to a 10+2 system with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

or

• General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/ Cambridge/Sri-Lanka) at the advanced (A) level with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics / International Baccalaureate (IB).

NIFT Kolkata UG Selection Criteria

B.Des.

• For candidates to the UG Design programmes, the selection process comprises a written examination comprising a Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT), followed by a Situation Test to be undertaken by shortlisted candidates of the written examination. 
• In case of foreign nationals, the candidate must have a valid SAT score for admission in B.Des.
• Students have to appear for the college entrance exam and selection is done through the merit of the exam.
• In case of equal scores at the entrance exam, candidates who are older (by age) will be given the preference.

B.FTech.

• For B.F.Tech. candidates, GAT will be the final test for selection.
