Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy started in 1987 falls under the Ministry of Environment and Forests. It is situated in the New Forest Campus of Forest Research Institute, Dehradun and operates as a college for Indian Forest Service IFS officers.

Post-graduation in a relevant field with at least 60% aggregate or equivalent CGPA from any University incorporated by the state or the central legislature of India.
A relaxation in aggregate is provided up to 5% for SC/ST candidates.

The candidate should take care of the following while reporting at the academy for admissions-

Bring all the attested photocopies of the qualifying examination which are to be submitted at the academy along with the original documents.
The candidate should make the payment for taking admission in the course. The total course fees in INR 185,000 approximately.
The candidate can make the payment through net banking, cash or Deofmand Draft.
The candidate is advised to keep a photocopy of the demand draft for the purpose maintaining records.

Ques. What all facilities are available in the academy?

Ans. The students are provided with many facilities within the campus. There is a huge playground for the students. There is a hostel, library, computer labs, seminar halls and gym. The hostels are fully Wi-Fi enabled. The college also organizes transportation facilities within the city and the students and the academy also organize general medical checkups for the students. The hostels are available for both boys and girls costing around INR 6000- 7000.

Ans. The college organizes various events to unleash the talents of the students. Activities like trekking, nature walk, photography, rangoli competitions, and nature quizzes are held from time to time. ‘Bird watching sessions’ are also organized for the interested students. The academy also organizes various such competitions and quizzes etc.

Ans. The Ministry of Environments and Forest MOEF and the Government of India GOI handle the administrative control of the academy. The academy has several professors who are experts in their field and have worked at respectable positions in the past. Members of the faculty group have worked as Director in Ministry of Home Affairs, CCF in Department of Forest, DFO Punjab, and many such honorable designations.
