Malda College, which started in 1944, is a government-sponsored college and is NAAC accredited. At present, the college offers undergraduate courses in Arts, Commerce and Science streams for both Honours as well as General category. Apart from the UG courses, Malda college also offers PG courses in English, Bengali, and History since 2014.
Admission for both Honours as well as General courses for all the streams at UG level is done on the merit basis of marks obtained in 10+2 or equivalent exam. Admission in PG courses for candidates belonging to the University of Gour Banga is done on the basis of merit, whereas, candidates from outside the university need to appear for an entrance examination. Admission in the UG courses at Malda College is done on the basis of marks obtained in 10+2 level exam. Application process for these courses start generally in May every year and the list of shortlisted candidates are announced by June.
For B.A., applicants can choose between General and Honours courses from an option of 11 different specializations. For B.Sc., applicants can choose Honours or General courses from seven different specializations.Students opting for B.Com. Honours can choose Accounting as the major subject. In Post Graduation courses, Malda College offers Master’s degree programme in English, History and Bengali. Candidates who have passes from a recognised board or University with 10+2+3 system or equivalent are eligible for application. A total of 195 seats are available.

Ques. What is the Malda College seat capacity for BDC general?
Ans. The institute currently does not offer this course. No information is there regarding the retraction of this course.
Ques. I have applied for an Honours course only i.e I have not applied for a general course. Am I eligible for admission to the general (pass) course automatically if I fail to get a chance in honours course?
Ans. NO, in order to be eligible for the general (pass) course, you need to apply for a general course separately using the same registration number. Application for general course and honours course are to be treated separately.
Ques. In how many subjects can I apply?
Ans. If you fulfil the eligibility criteria, you can apply for as many subjects as you wish. There is no restriction. In the end it is up to you to choose which subject you must proceed with moving forward.
Ques. Is the physical presence of the candidate compulsory during the verification of the documents after online admission?
Ans. It is not mandatory for the candidate to be physically present during the verification of the documents as per college norms. Self attested documents must be provided during the admission process nevertheless.
Ques. If I want to cancel my admission, what is the procedure?
Ans. To cancel your admission, you need to apply in writing to the Principal. If approved, you have to pay the cancellation fee and present the original Mark sheet of HS or Equivalent examination to the college office.

Ans. The college accepts a government scholarship and an institute scholarship. It provides 3 types of scholarships to its regular students.
