Jijamata College of Science and Arts situated in Dynaneshwarnagar, Bhende was established in 1992 by Shri Marutraoji Ghule Patil Shikshan Samiti, an education society. This education society was made to incorporate scientific approach and provide facilities of higher education to the students who come from economically backward and socially deprived families. The major objective of this college is to encourage and motivate these classes for intellectual, moral, social and academic growth and to motivate them to seek higher education.

National Service Scheme- The National Service Scheme has been running successfully in the college since 1994. At present, 250 volunteers are there in the NSS. Some of the remarkable activities carried on by the NSS are Blood Donation, Water Conservation, Tree Plantation, AIDS awareness etc.
Earn and Learn Scheme- The College has a unique programme in collaboration with University of Pune for needy students. The students are allotted different types of works like computer typing, gardening, library services etc, through which the students can earn a fixed income. The Earn and Learn Scheme was launched in 1995 and it has helped thousands of extremely poor students in pursuing higher education.
