Government College of Arts Science and Commerce (GCASC) was established in 1989. The college offers specialization in Microbiology, Chemistry and Computer Science, semi specialization in Chemistry and Microbiology for Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.); specialization in Advanced Accountancy, Cost and Management Accounting and Business Management for Bachelor of commerce (B.Com.) degree and semi specialization in Economics, Pol. Sc., Geography, Psychology, English, Konkani, Marathi and Hindi for Bachelor of Arts.

The college has introduced several innovative courses over the years, viz Certificate Course in Tally, Sales tax, Library and Information Science etc. Infect this year too, Orientation Programme on Practical Banking has already been conducted. Various Certificate Courses are proposed with the primary objective of developing not just graduates but resourceful citizens. The college has a NSS Unit for 300 volunteers who will be engaged in socially beneficial projects.
