BESM Arts and Commerce college was established in 1984 with an intention to provide higher education to the students of the area, some young leaders of the town instituted Byadgi Education Society as the student in the region, who were desirous of getting higher education, had to move to the distant towns.
The Byadgi Education Society has been running Merchants’ Arts and Commerce College,Pre-University level Job Orients Courses, NBB Lions primary School and Byadgi Education Society’s High School and pre-Primary School the last 25 years. These institutions have been quenching the academic thirst of the students of this area.
The College began working in 1984 and the principal Prof.T.F.Murashillin laid a strong academic and administrative foundation to the newly started college.
Along with B.A. and B.Com. courses plus two (+2) level Job Oriented Courses in Electrical,Two wheeler and Garment and Designing Courses are open for the students.

College Building :
The College is spread over a campus of 4 acres and has its own building with sufficient rooms for the smooth running of academic and administrative functions.
Library :
The College has its own library building which is partially computerized. There are more than 16,000 books on different subjects for the students who are eager to gain knowledge. Reading facility of 21 Journals, 14 periodicals and 7 News Papers are provided. Other facility in the library includes the facility of internet and the students and teachers are free to use it.
National Service Scheme :
The College has an N.S.S. unit comprising of 100 volunteers. The students who are desirous of serving the nation and community have the facility of joining the unit.
Scholarships :
There are many scholarships of the State and Central Government available for the deserving students. The institution comes under the the jurisdiction of the Karnatak University and has got the permanent affiliation from the Karnatak University and also accredited by the NAAC at the ‘B’ Level.
