Acquire the skills and knowledge to work with legal documents relating to corporate law, conveyancing, litigation, family law, wills, and estates. Experienced administrative assistants and graduates of the administrative assistant program learn to adapt administrative skills to work in the legal field by acquiring the skills and knowledge to apply time management principles and set priorities to create, edit, store, and retrieve legal documents and correspondence using computers.

The main emphasis is on the development of practical skills including machine transcription. Students are required to work individually and in groups. Theory is presented by means of lectures, demonstrations, videos, and field trips. Program time is set aside for work experience where the student may be placed in a challenging work environment within a law firm or law-related office.
