PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Victoria is offered as a 4-years program by the Division of Medical Sciences.
The University of Victoria also ranked 2nd in Maclean’s top Canadian Comprehensive Universities 2019.
The PhD program is a full-time program of independent and original research leading to a dissertation that is defended in an oral examination.
The neuroscience graduate program produces students with a research-based background in either cellular or cognitive neurosciences, reflecting UVic's two major neuroscience research streams.
The program emphasizes connections between the core areas in neuroscience: learning and memory, synaptic function, developmental neuroscience, sensory-motor systems, and disease and injury and encourages students to develop competencies in more than one area.
The PhD program consists of a minimum of 32 units.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

Students must have a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Neuroscience or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
A grade point average of 5.0/9.0 (B average) in the work of the last two years (30 units) leading to the bachelor’s degree.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Students must complete a bachelor’s and master's degree in Neuroscience or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
The minimum grade score for a degree should be 7/10 (60%), first class.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
