In the one-year program, student will gain a solid theoretical foundation in food science alongside valuable practical experience in the industry.
They will build connections, gain teamwork and communication skills, and learn theory that you can apply globally.
MFS program is the only program in Canada to offer a one-year, non-thesis Master of Food Science degree. The program is unique in combining graduate level courses with a high quality practicum experience.
After completing two semesters of course work, the program culminates with a 15‑week summer practicum in which the students get hands-on experience, working on a project in an industry or government setting.
Throughout the years students have helped local, national and international food sectors to solve problems and provide advances in food safety, risk assessment, product development, sensory analysis and process validation studies.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized institution.
A GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 is required to be eligible for the program.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Students must complete an undergraduate degree with first-class in a relevant field from a highly ranked university in India.
Or, students completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.

Personal Statement: Reasons or intentions for pursuing studies in this program, including a description of prior experience.
Official Transcripts: Applicants who have attended and/or received degrees from institutions outside the US must provide certified copies and certified English translations of transcripts or records of all previous post-secondary education and of all degrees conferred.
ELP Scores: Students have a submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.

Graduates are hired by local and international companies and government agencies in positions of Quality Assurance Coordinator, Quality Control Manager, Technical Director, Research and Development Specialist, Product Design Specialist, Regulatory and Scientific Affairs Specialist, Process Scientist and Consultant.
