  • The Faculty of Agriculture at Dalhousie University offers an MSc in Agriculture and a PhD in Agricultural Sciences, in a broad range of specialties. 
  • The MSc program is thesis-based and designed to provide a foundation for subsequent studies at the doctoral level, and for professional careers in research and development, teaching, industry, and extension.
  • The research areas of the programs are:

  • Students are required to take a minimum of 4 graduate courses (3.0 credit hours each).
  • The remaining 3 courses are selected by the student in consultation with his or her supervisor.
  • As the program is research centred, all students must complete a research thesis embodying original contribution in the thesis field of study. The thesis is defended at an oral examination.
  • In addition, students must be admitted to candidacy within the first 4-6 months of their program, must do a teaching assistantship in at least one UG class in order to gain knowledge and experience in classroom instruction.
  • Students can apply for scholarships, awards, bursaries, and prizes according to their eligibility skills.
  • The average salary goes up to 44,000 USD after completion of the program.
