• Dalhousie University offers a Certificate degree in Applied and Computational Mathematics for a duration of 1 year.
  • It is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis.
  • This program is concerned with the development of the core mathematical and computational skills required in science, government, and industry.
  • The areas of application include everything from mathematical modeling to operations research to cryptography to software development.
  • A Faculty of Science Certificate program will be awarded to a student who meets the following requirements:
    • Completion of the 20 credit Major or Honours program in Mathematics or an equivalent program (e.g. a Double Major or combined Honours program in Mathematics and Computer Science, or Mathematics and Statistics, etc).
    • Completion of the mathematics classes of Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Discrete Mathematics and Numerical Analysis.
    • Completion of at least 3 classes from the courses such as Differential Equations, Numerical Analysis, and Optimization.
    • Completion of at least 2 classes from Differential Equations, Continuous Optimization and Control, Math in Industry, Discrete Optimization and Networks, Numerical Analysis, and Cryptography.
  • The Certificate in Applied and Computational Mathematics (CACM) is only available to those students that are currently registered at Dalhousie University.
  • Students can apply for various Scholarship and bursaries according to their academic eligibility at Dalhousie University.
