La Trobe University has seven campuses across Victoria and New South Wales. The Melbourne campus, Bendigo campus and Albury Wodonga campus offer a variety of on-campus accommodation options. Regional accommodation is available for students in Melton, Mildura, Wodonga and Ballarat.

Around 35% of residents of La Trobe University are international students. The Melbourne campus accommodation namely Chisholm College, Glenn College, Menzies and North, and South Apartments is suitable for undergraduate students aged between 18-24. Mature aged and postgraduate students on the Melbourne campus prefer to live in the Chisholm College, North and South Apartments or the University Lodge.

The University Lodge offers twin sharing and double room options while other residential colleges have single rooms only. The North and South Apartments and Glenn College are apartment-style accommodations on the Melbourne campus. The Bendigo campus accommodates undergraduate students in Hillside, Villas, Terraces, and Units. Postgraduate and mature-aged students prefer staying in Orde House that offers a peaceful setting.

Students are encouraged to not wait for admission at Trobe University to apply for accommodation. The weekly rent of on-campus accommodation ranges between 230-260 AUD. Off-campus accommodation in the area surrounding campus can cost around 200-360 AUD depending on the room type and area. Most on campus accommodation is facilitated with a dedicated bus service. At the time of arrival at the university eligible international students will be provided temporary accommodation for one to three weeks.

La Trobe University On-campus Accommodation

La Trobe University offers on-campus accommodation on its Melbourne campus, Bendigo campus and Albury Wodonga campus. To apply for on-campus accommodation, students will have to register on the StarRez portal. Students will be asked their preferred residence while applying for accommodation. After submitting the application, students can check the application status using the ID number and password to log into the Accommodation Application Portal. Application Deadline: Applications are accepted from the open day which is usually in early August. On-campus accommodation is limited and therefore students are advised to apply as early as possible.

The North and South Apartments provide state-of-the-art facilities to all students and is the newest accommodation at La Trobe University.

The Bendigo campus provides accommodation in Villas, Terraces, Hillside apartments, Units and Orde House.

Hillside Apartments

Hillside Apartments consist of six 3-level apartment blocks located at a short distance from the campus center. The apartments accommodate up to 200 students while 60 bedrooms are reserved for students of the Regional Health School.

• This accommodation has 112 single bedrooms with separate bathroom and laundry having washing and drying facilities.

Orde House

Orde House is best suited for peace loving students. It is located on the edge of the Bendigo campus.

• Orde House can accommodate up to 24 students only. It is generally opted by mature aged postgraduate students.

East End Residence

The East End Units comprises 12 fully furnished houses each of which can accommodate 4-6 students. The residence is located within walking distance from the La Trobe and Wodonga TAFE.

• The accommodation has 70 rooms available for all student types with utilities included.

La Trobe University Off-campus Accommodation

The University Lodge on the Melbourne campus is an outer campus accommodation primarily occupied by postgraduate students. It is located within a 10 minutes walk from the main campus and at a short walking distance from the Macleod train station.

The University Lodge

The University Lodge is home to 65 residents, mainly postgraduate students. The accommodation provides the WELCOME induction program that stands for Wellbeing, Engagement, Leadership, Community, Overnight, Mind, Events.

Students must apply for accommodation at the preferred campus as soon as possible. If students wait to receive the admission offer then the accommodation might be filled. Applicants who wish to see the accommodation before applying can attend the Open Day or Experience La Trobe event as tours of the residential precinct are available on these days.

When a student arrives at the accommodation, they must carry their own linen for single beds, towels, laundry basket, clothing, personal toiletries, clothes hangers, etc. Students are given the flexibility to customise their rooms with posters, pictures or decorations. Additionally, a student may bring a small fridge for their room. Students in self-catered residence must carry crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, pans, pots, etc. as per their requirements.
