Students study sustainable approaches to materials, construction, site design, building design, and the generation of energy. In addition, students receive training in building science fundamentals related to the measurement of building performance. Students also learn skills vital to historic preservation and the renovation and re-use of existing buildings. Graduates should be equipped with the knowledge to design and/or construct buildings that make positive contributions to their communities. Students may choose to complete the major with an emphasis in Architectural Technology or Building Construction Technology. In addition, other applied technology degrees in areas such as HVAC, Electrical Technology, Business Management, and Information Technology will be considered for the directed elective requirements of the transfer major. After completing the first four semesters, students may petition to graduate with the appropriate A.A.S. degree where applicable.
