One of three degree programs housed within the Department of Biological Science, the Microbiology program leads to a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. This is a rigorous laboratory-intensive program that offers exposure to many different aspects of microbiology. Microbiology is the study of microorganisms including bacteria, viruses, fungi, algae and protozoa and their interactions with humans, other organisms, and the environment. This degree, with the inclusion of appropriate classes, may be utilized by preprofessional students who are preparing for medical, dental, pharmacy, optometry, and veterinary school.
