Students are admitted into Pre-Business and will apply to Accounting major through a competitive and selective process to gain admission.Accounting involves the collection, organization, and presentation of financial information for effective decision-making. The program trains students in accounting, corporate finance, and business policy. Some states require a five-year program in order to sit for the Uniform CPA Examination; a masters degree in accounting may be necessary for some careers.
The understanding gained from a degree in Accounting of how to collect, organize, analyze, and present financial information and make effective financial decisions forms a strong career foundation. Graduates in Accounting can pursue careers in firms or independently, working with businesses, financial institutions, organizations, government, and individuals. Accounting is also useful preparation for graduate study in business administration or economics.
