Physical education provides students with a planned, sequential, K-12 standards-based program of curricula and instruction designed to develop motor skills, knowledge and behaviors for active living, physical fitness, sportsmanship, self-efficacy and emotional intelligence (SHAPE America).? Our Physical Education Teacher Education program prepares our majors to effectively plan and deliver this standards-based content and instruction.

Certification

This program prepares you to become a competent physical educator consistent with developmentally and instructionally appropriate guidelines provided by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education.? Graduates of the program are eligible for certification by the Maryland State Department of Education as a K-12 physical education teacher.
