Recent topics have included “From Renoir to Rent: Literary and Artistic Bohemia in Paris” and “Hip-Hop Troubadours.” Our French language curriculum is designed to integrate language and culture at every level and to help you improve your reading, writing, and speaking skills. We then encourage you to enhance your linguistic mastery and cultural understanding by taking advantage of our rich study abroad opportunities in the Loire Valley, Nice, Toulouse, Paris, and Senegal.

Such direct exposure to the culture of Paris, the provinces, and beyond, from the museums to the markets, from the theaters to the gardens, leaves you with lasting memories and friendships and a first-hand understanding and appreciation of cultural differences. French and American culture have a long history of reciprocal influence, from the philosophy that informs their representative form of government, through the high culture of fashion and cuisine, through the popular culture of music and film. Our classes therefore emphasize not only cultural differences but also cultural affinities.
