The mission of the department is to teach chemical engineering principles and their application in an inspiring learning environment and to prepare students for engineering careers by developing the skills of critical thinking, analytical abilities and communication proficiency, and by instilling a sense of professional ethics and societal responsibility.

Graduates who are employed in chemical process and related industries will perform tasks related to plant operation, control, engineering decision making, and process and product design.

Other graduates who are not employed in chemical process and related industries will be employed in diverse professions including other engineering fields, management, consulting, etc., using their engineering and analytical backgrounds. All will engage in activities that promote professional growth and fulfillment.

Graduates pursuing doctoral studies or other professional degrees will make reasonable progress toward completing the degree requirements and will engage in activities that promote professional development and fulfillment.
