Music Education majors also can combine their studies with a Secondary Education major through the College of Education and Human Services for a certification in public school teaching.

Our curriculum features a range of courses in music history, theory, technology, and conducting, as well as private vocal and instrumental lessons. Our ensembles (choirs, bands, orchestra, jazz ensemble) afford students performing opportunities ranging from regular appearances at the South Orange Performing Arts Center to highlight concerts at venues like Carnegie Hall and NJPAC, and our dedicated Music Technology Lab offers students on-campus experience with a wide array of professional music production software and equipment. Juries, workshops, recitals, and musical theater presentations throughout the academic year offer opportunities for solo performing. Students are given exposure to leading professional artists through regular concert and workshops presentations of the Classical Concert Series and Jazz ?n the Hall.
