Our Classical Studies majors dive deep into those ancient civilizations, while at the same time sparking new ideas and understanding of the present. They study the historical, literary, linguistic and religious elements of Greece and Rome and choose from two concentrations: language or culture. Qualified students may also join the Theta Delta chapter of Eta Sigma Phi ? the national honor society for classical studies.
Study Greek or Latin authors in their original languages. Explore English translations of ancient texts. Examine the Greco-Roman world from the third millennium B.C. to the Middle Ages. Our curriculum touches on every aspect of history and culture in these ancient worlds, including language and literature, philosophy, religion and mythology, science, politics, drama and art. In this small program, faculty members get to know each student ? and make sure students? individual needs and goals are met.
