- The David Eccles School of Business Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) program is designed to provide advanced IT training for individuals seeking the skills necessary to manage the technology of the business. Companies in the private and public sectors need information systems (IS) executives, analysts, and specialists with business and technology knowledge to align information technology with business strategies.
- The information systems curriculum is designed to offer courses that integrate technology into business processes. The MSIS program offers students advanced graduate specializations in a variety of today’s hottest IT fields including Data Management, IT Security, Operations, Project Management and more. Each concentration offers University of Utah students a unique competitive advantage that will prepare them for high-level leadership positions in major corporations.

- IT Security: Gain an in-depth knowledge of network architecture, potential security threats, and how to keep systems safe and secure
- Software & Systems Architecture: Learn the science of assessing available resources and developing the best model for system functionality, efficiency, and business goals.
- Product & Process Management : Utilize your technical knowledge to optimize processes, anticipate challenges, and work with teams to meet deadlines.
- Business Intelligence & Analytics : Gain the skill set required to discover new business areas, find and solve problems, and translate data for non-technical groups.
- Applicants with a complete MSIS application are eligible to apply for admissions scholarships. A separate scholarship application will be emailed to eligible applicants after notification of their admissions decision.
- Students complete a hands-on capstone as the culmination of their degree
- The capstone is three credit hours completed over three semesters. MSIS students can choose either a consulting project or an industry certification.
- Students have the option to earn a Full-Time MBA, Professional MBA, MBA Online, MS Business Analytics, or MS Finance concurrently with the MSIS.
- MSIS students benefit from working one-on-one with a dedicated career coach throughout the program. The MSIS career coach helps students prepare to enter the growing market for technology professionals and teaches a one-credit-hour course on career development.
