SLU nursing students can begin their nursing curriculum during their very first semester on campus with “NURS 1400: Introduction to Nursing.” Later, you’ll learn to respond to the most common events nurses encounter, including chest pains, congestive heart failure, dehydration, confusion and asthma, in our innovative simulation lab.
Nursing students also have the opportunity to spend all or part of their first two years in the nursing program studying in Spain at Saint Louis University’s Madrid campus. The majority of students will spend one semester abroad.
SSM Health, Missouri Baptist Medical Center and other St. Louis-area hospitals offer internships and fellowship programs for students enrolled in SLU’s B.S.N. program. Through these programs, you will work in a clinical specialty area with a nurse preceptor. SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital also recruits students at all levels to work as patient care technicians while enrolled in our nursing program. You may also choose to intern at hospitals in your hometown.
