The Nurse Practitioner programs (MS) at the UR School of Nursing are some of the best in the nation. It was the groundbreaking work of our founding dean, Loretta Ford, more than 50 years ago which led to the creation of the nurse practitioner role and changed the way health care is provided.
Nurse practitioner students who pursue the adult-gerontology acute care specialty will be prepared to diagnose and treat adult and older adult patients who are acutely or critically ill, including those who have conditions requiring complex chronic specialty care.
In this program, you?ll gain the skills to deliver advanced nursing care that restores health, prevents complications, and navigates patients and families across health care settings in a rapidly changing environment.
Graduates of the AGACNP program are well-prepared to meet these challenges and are practicing in ICUs ? cardiac, medical, surgical, trauma, and neuromedicine ? hospital inpatient floors, and outpatient specialty care clinics.
