The Graphic Design Communication program is offered by Jefferson (Philadelphia University and Thomas Jefferson University). Graphic Design surrounds us every day. From logos to websites, from branding to packaging, everywhere you look graphic designs—and the designers behind them—are conveying messages.
Our curriculum emphasizes the ability to solve complex communication problems by thoroughly exploring the design process of properly identifying the problem; conducting research, gathering and analyzing information; generating and iterating alternative solutions and multiple ideas; prototyping, user testing, and evaluating outcomes.
As part of the innovative Kanbar College of Design, Engineering and Commerce our students work on real-world projects collaborating with students from other disciplines and industry professionals. Our students have recently worked with such companies and institutions as QVC, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Philadelphia, the Port of Baltimore, the National Constitution Center and the New Jersey State Police.
Our students’ work has regularly won awards or been recognized by international, national, and regional design competitions, exhibitions and publications. Our program’s graduates have been hired by some of the most forward-thinking companies in the country, as they are sought after as designers who have the conceptual and technical skill to produce exceptional work, and as professionals with the understanding to navigate the complex interdisciplinary industries in which graphic designers work.
