The proposed degree program is a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering (BSMSE). Materials science and engineering (MSE) is a research-intensive, engineering discipline with strong interactions with other STEM disciplines (interdisciplinary), including physics and chemistry, as well as other engineering fields. The proposed BSMSE is an undergraduate specialization, and hence, may have a small enrollment, graduating approximately 15 students per year during the first five years, and 30 to 60 students per year thereafter. A single degree track is proposed, consisting of 128 total hours. The overall purpose of the program is two-fold, to prepare students for immediate employment in industry as materials engineers as well as to prepare them for graduate education
