The programme at Mills will empower you to be an ethical reporter, a critical news reader, and an engaged citizen. You?ll learn to analyze the news, seek out varying points of view, and challenge assumptions. In small, intensely collaborative classes, you?ll work in teams on writing and editing projects, guided by professors who are experienced journalists. They?ll embolden you to uncover complex realities in local communities and to question authority. You?ll find your own voice through writing fair and balanced news stories, incisive op-ed pieces, and engaging magazine articles. And you?ll experiment with emerging technologies to create original digital narratives.

Outside of class, you?ll serve and engage the Mills community by working on the?Campanil, the student-run print and digital campus newspaper. You?ll be encouraged to gain further professional experience through internships in news, multimedia, radio, or video reporting.

Because journalism is inherently multidisciplinary, you?ll combine your minor with a major that gives you expertise in an academic area you are passionate about. You?ll graduate with a deep commitment to the free flow of information and social justice?and the skill to deliver compelling, original stories.?
