The occurrences of natural resources and “natural” hazards are not randomly distributed over the Earth; understanding their distribution and, in some cases, predicting their future occurrence or recurrence fall within the realms of geology and geophysics.

The curriculum constitutes a preparation for professional work and also provides the necessary background for graduate work in geophysics and geology. The curriculum has two options: exploration geophysics and general geophysics, which differ only in the required geophysics courses.
