While the program encourages new ways of thinking, looking, and making, it also develops the traditional learning skills of a liberal education. A core curriculum in film and media theory, history, and both fiction and non-fiction filmmaking is supplemented with classes in the related arts, disciplines, and national cinemas. CMA courses are taught by thirteen core film faculty as well as over twenty professors from more than a dozen different departments and programs throughout the College of Arts & Science and the Blair School of Music. Affiliated faculty coordinate their course offerings to create an intellectual and creative environment that uses cinema to bridge the arts, humanities, and social sciences.
